More about types of after-school programs

Traditionally, after school learning has included things like swimming lessons, piano lessons, and other music lessons. You can certainly find those here, but there’s so much more! We also list Minecraft programs, and programs in emerging technology, like after school robotics programs. Look through the list above to survey the variety of options. Dig deep into each camp’s sessions to find programming that matches your needs.

How to find the best programs for your family

Many kids’ programs in the city are featured at the annual camp expo, every February at Roy Thomson Hall. When you meet programs there, or reach out to them using the links above, here’s a list of 10 starter questions for you:

    • What are the prerequisites for the program?
    • What is the goal or projected outcome of the program?
    • What is the schedule like?
    • What are pick-up and drop-off times? Consider how they match your schedule.
    • Are there testimonials from parents or kids?
    • What is the ratio of leaders to kids?
    • How big are program groupings?
    • How does the class deal with discipline?
    • Are snacks, beverages, and other food provided?
    • Are Education Assistants (EAs) or Personal Service Workers (PSWs) present?
