Here's what makes Toronto Botanical Garden stand out

TBG offers hands-on learning experiences in our children's garden, neighbouring ravine and in our cozy classroom. Programs and Sessions Calendar

TBGKids camps start in our warm and inviting children's centre, our home base. Campers get to know each other and their counsellors before exploring the wide variety of outdoor areas to explore around the Toronto Botanical Garden. Campers learn about (and try!) vegetables in our vegetable gardens, paint flowers in our stunning gardens and, of course, explore and learn directly from nature in our local forest and ravine system. The Teaching Garden located a 15-minute walk from the children's centre becomes our "home away from home" where campers can help tend to the garden, play in the mud kitchen and harvest vegetables to share with our partners at the North York Harvest Food Bank.

Choose the right programs and sessions for your child; Toronto Botanical Garden currently has 3 programs available; 5 TBD.

    Registration Details

Camp registration is online at www.torontobotanicalgarden.ca. Registration has two parts: the first is registering for your selected week and age range. Age ranges all overlap to allow parents to group campers with a friend even if they are a year older or younger than the camper. After registration, a link is sent out to collect pertinent information designed to help us ensure campers have the best experience possible at camp. This includes pick-up information, health and medical concerns as well as any additional details parents and guardians would like to share.

The Our Kids review of Toronto Botanical Garden

    our take

One of the mainstays of Toronto, the Toronto Botanical Garden isn’t just a beautiful place to visit. Their TBGKids camps and family programs are great ways to learn about nature, while entertaining and enriching kids’ development. Using hands-on activities, campers connect with nature in ways parents wouldn’t have thought possible. The facilities at Toronto Botanical Garden are extensive, with a ravine system, forest, creek, and gorgeous and extensive gardens available without leaving the property. Exploring the property isn’t the only activity at this camp—kids can cultivate their own vegetation and use it for cooking or art. The mud kitchen is wildly popular—if the kid doesn’t go home dirty, did they really have fun? Learning life skills is also a large part of the Toronto Botanical Garden’s camps. Responsibility is a big one, but also empathy, and learning to care for something other than yourself. Each week boasts a different theme, so kids are excited to come back and see what else they can do at Toronto Botanical Garden.

    Director's Message

    Hello!

The Toronto Botanical Garden is an amazing space for learning and exploring nature - right in the city! Our programs focus on creating connections with nature through learning in our garden, local forests and ravine system. Campers also spend time learning in our Teaching Garden where participants plant, care for and harvest in our own vegetable garden. Campers learn about responsibility and generosity by tending and caring for the garden throughout the week. They explore new tastes through garden taste test and help harvest fruits and vegetables to donate to the North York Harvest Food Bank!

In addition to learning in the garden, each week features a new theme from learning all about the amazing spy skills of animals around the garden to making fairy doors in our Magical Adventure Camp. There is always something new in the garden!

Our March Break and Winter camps focus on exploring and learning from nature and provide opportunities for campers to learn more about how to care for plants indoors. Campers take new plants home to continue practicing the skills they have learned at camp.

Our team of Summer Camp Nature Educators attend extensive training to learn both how to engage campers but also how to best share their knowledge of nature and gardening. Our Education Manager helps to lead and guide them and well as providing support to our camp team.

Looking forward to seeing you at the garden!

    Natalie

    Staff and Counsellors

Our camps are facilitated by our team of Nature Educators and led by the Manager of Education programs. Our Nature Educators work closely with the Manager to develop programming that helps campers connect with and learn more about nature during each of our camps. Our counsellors engage in robust training prior to the start of camp and are supported by our experienced Manager of Education. Our camp ratio is 1 Nature Educator for each group of 10 campers along with a volunteer for each group and a dedicated staff member to float between the groups as needed.
