The Our Kids review of Evergreen Brick Works

    our take

Camp can have the power to transform any child. They can strive to reach their full potential and learn more about themselves. Like the site itself, the Evergreen Brick Works camp enables campers to shed their roots and become the best version of themselves. This camp offers experiential learning and play in an outdoor urban oasis. The natural world is a focus, and kids are fully immersed in what’s around them every day. Building community, discovering, and making memories are what this camp is all about. What’s unique about this camp is definitely the facilities. The Evergreen Brick Works is an abandoned factory space that is now a flourishing community hub where sustainability is paramount. With spots to see the entire city from above, a fantastic children’s garden, and many public art spaces, there is nothing usual about this camp’s location. Kids engage in hands-on play in this natural environment, developing problem solving skills, with a programming focus on enabling future city builders. Evergreen Brick Works is a camp focused on the kids and their future in the city.

Evergreen Brickworks Camp is the best day camp in Toronto!

Evergreen Brickworks Camp is the best day camp in Toronto! It is minutes from so many neighbourhoods but gives city kids an experience of being fully immersed in nature. The leaders foster exploration, play, and building community and make each day an adventure. Kids hike, bike, create, play, and bond while outdoors for most programming. I really appreciate that the campers are seen as capable and allowed to use tools, take risks and grow. The counsellors are on top of things like age-appropriate programming, food allergies and building an inclusive community. As long as we can get a spot, my kid will attend this amazing camp. Thank you Brickworks for your intentional programming that celebrates childhood and nature. ... Show More

    Director's Message

    Hi There!

My name is Claire Christie (nature name is Caribou). I am a long-time camper who grew up attending camp every summer and I have worked at a number of camp and outdoor education centres over the last 12 years.

Spending time outside, playing, hiking and exploring are some of my fondest childhood memories. It was through those moments that I was able to learn more about who I was, who I wanted to be and create long lasting friendships. I am so grateful that I and the Evergreen camp staff, are able to play a role in fostering those memories and moments for the campers throughout the year!

I look forward to connecting and getting to know campers and camp families each year and we hope to see down at the Brick Works!

    Happy Trails!

    Claire Christie aka Caribou (she/her)
