What do children learn in soccer lessons?

Coaches immerse children in the exciting world of soccer. In beginner programs, kids participate in drills that teach them how to dribble, shoot, and pass. Intermediate programs build on these basic skills, educating kids on defensive and strategic playing. Teams are often divided based on children’s skill and age, and, during games, children play against teams of the same skill level.

Competitive and recreational teams are available. In competitive programs like house leagues, children are assigned positions on the field that play to their strengths. These include defender, striker, and goalie. Recreational teams are more relaxed, as kids cycle through all positions to learn different soccer skills. Children learn game rules and basic techniques in all programs.

Kids also adopt transferable sports skills from soccer lessons, such as balance, agility, and endurance. These skills can be useful if kids wish to pursue other sports such as basketball, hockey, or even dance. Recreational soccer programs are typically purchasable per lesson and start at $20. More advanced, semester-based programs can rise to $200+.
