Here's what makes Camp Can-Aqua stand out

Camp Can-Aqua is one of the greatest experiences you can give to your child. We're a camper focused world where kids choose their programs daily. This builds their independence. As a traditional camp, we're proud of the exceptional skill development & creative magic we provide for kids ages 5-17. Our new 16 element High Rope/Ariel course is one of many amazing programs offered.

  • Programs and Sessions Calendar

At Camp Can-Aqua we believe that campers should have control of their day. With this in mind, kids are given the choice of which activities to take part in each day of their session. While each activity day is structured into four periods and one hour of free time, campers are encouraged to select their activities themselves. If they need some help, the staff are always there to guide them in a positive decision making process. Note: Campers attending for one week sessions will have two elective periods and two rotation periods in a program day. At suppertime, campers go to the Can-Aqua Program Board with their counselor, and choose activities for the following day. It’s an exciting process that kids look forward to being involved in.

Choose the right programs and sessions for your child; Camp Can-Aqua currently has 11 programs available.

    Registration Details

Our camp registration process is completely online using the CampBrain portal. For returning families, please navigate to our registration page using the same log in credentials as previous years, as this avoids duplicate family accounts (and also saves you time when registering!) If you are a new family to Can-Aqua, we can't wait to meet you! Our database registers in real time so when working through your registration, any selection you make will remain in your cart for 30 minutes. We hope the enrollment process is straight forward and fast, but if you have any questions, we're happy to help. Our registration portal opens in the fall each year & remains open until one week before the session starts as long as there is availability.

  • The Our Kids review of Camp Can-Aqua

    our take

We often tend to think first of activities at camp: what kids will do there. Camp Can-Aqua, like all great camp programs, is developed with the full range of activities, though leadership addresses itself less to the 'what' than to the 'why'—the activities are there to provide opportunities to grow independence and character, to expose kids to new things, new ideas, and to have fun while they do all of that. That’s the spirit in which Louis Gyori founded the camp more than 30 years ago, and one that continues at the camp today. The core activities are those we associate with traditional camping, and all are applied to allowing kids to gain a greater understanding of who they are and what they are capable of. There are specialty programs, including leadership training, which are a draw for many. The camp also offers family camp sessions, which is great in and of itself, though can also provide a nice entrée to the camp experience and the culture of Can-Aqua.

    Director's Message

Summer Camp is one of the most important decisions you will make for you child. The experience children get for those few short weeks each summer is one, which is certain to shape them into a more confident, independent individuals. The opportunity for them to carve out their own social identity allows them to develop friendships that become long lasting and remarkable. Camp is one of the greatest growth opportunities available to kids.

I am proud to be a part of providing the framework for such an incredible experience here at Camp Can-Aqua.

If you were to ask me to tell you what makes this camp unique, I would tell you that there are a few factors...

    1. Our Focus
Can-Aqua is a community camp. We have tons of activities and excitement to keep your kids engaged and active all day. While this is important, we believe that it is the way we interact with each other that is the real value in our camp. We focus on making certain that every camper feels safe, comfortable and a part of it all.

    2. Our site.
What a treat it is to be a camp isolated in Ontario Wilderness with our very own lake. Our site is the foundation to which we build our remarkable experiences.

    3. Our Values
Character, Skills and Social Growth are simply the tip of the iceberg. At Can-Aqua we carve out the importance of cooperation, compromise, consideration and caring. Camp is more then just about having fun...although we do have a lions share of that too!

    Staff and Counsellors

The Camp Can-Aqua staff team consists of a diverse group of people ages 17-70. All staff undergo regular criminal background checks, verification of certifications and reference checks. Building our team each summer, we look first inside our community. The majority of our team have grown up at Can-Aqua and are excited to return and recreate the exceptional experiences they received as kids. In addition to internal hires, Can-Aqua seeks to bring in a small group of new staff both nationally and from abroad. In seeking specific skills for the camp, we are supported by Camps Canada, an agency which works with many OCA accredited camps in acquiring screened, highly skilled and professional staff members.
