The Our Kids review of Camp IAWAH

    our take

Keep on Growing is the philosophy at Camp IAWAH, a faith-based, non-denominational camp located on a beautiful and large property in a diverse Canadian landscape. A truly special place, campers feel the magic as soon as they enter. Self-discovery, connection, and disconnection are a huge part of this camp. Campers build solid friendships with like-minded peers, while also developing a deeper connection to themselves, to nature, and to God. The disconnection piece is that the camp allows kids to escape from the pressures of the modern world and just feel the peace and love that is available to them with some downtime from the busy world. Camp games, swimming, campfires are to be expected daily, along with faith-based activities. Campers choose their activities, so while this camp has some structure, it lets kids have control over what they want to do. Parents can watch their children progress and have fun through daily-updated photo galleries, and of course hear all how they've grown at pick-up.

    Camp IAWAH did not disappoint

I have not been back to Camp Iawah since I was 12 years old. I was thrilled to bring my two children and one of their friends to your fun day. Camp Iawah did not disappoint. They LOVED it. It was wonderful to see how much the camp has grown and improved since I was a kid. Everyone left with huge smiles on their faces and I am sure they will be telling everyone about it. Thank you for putting on such a wonderful event, and for giving me memories that will last a lifetime. ... Show More

    Staff and Counsellors

All of our summer staff have completed a minimum of grade 11, and many returning staff are immersed in post-secondary education. Each staff member participates in a minimum of an intense week-long training program. Staff in leadership roles participate in additional weeks of training. These staff are supported by professional adult volunteers (medical staff) and a group of full-time staff who have been working in the Camping ministry for decades.

    • Our child loved camp

"It was our first time sending the kids to a sleep away camp. They were apprehensive before going but now they can't stop talking about it. They found the right balance of activities, instruction, free time, and fun. They loved the food and the best is that they are more open to talk about their faith and values."
