Virtual cooking classes and courses help kids and teens develop or deepen their love of cooking. Kitchen safety is typically the first lesson children receive in class. Kids and teens learn how to stay safe in the kitchen, including how to use utensils, operate kitchen appliances, and keep the kitchen sanitized.
The virtual setting may be the most convenient way to learn how to cook. Your child learns how to cook in their own kitchen, promoting daily home cooking, and increasing your child’s comfort level in learning in a familiar environment. Classes teach kids and teens to make bread, pizza, brownies, and more.
Basic kitchen terminology and skills are learned in class as well. They learn distinctions between cutting, chopping, and dicing, for example. The virtual learning environment may also ease any anxiety your child may experience before class.
Registration is accepted from anywhere. Virtual cooking classes remove barriers to enrollment, allowing kids from remote cities or regions to participate. This also opens kids up to higher quality courses that may not be available near them. Some classes, however, may charge more depending on your location. Detailed information can be found in the listings above.
With the absence of in-person instructors, it’s important for parents to supervise. Although your child does learn on their own, parents, guardians, or siblings should make sure to listen in, to help prevent injuries or miscommunication. This makes it more of a shared experience, as well.
Online cooking classes start at $150.
