    Programs and Sessions Calendar

With our unique WHOA! Cycle we follow our Critical Thinking Model to dig deep, explore and test out ideas. Each program is focused on one key question where we Wonder, Harness skills through experiments, surveys and research, Open up discussions to consider ideas, perspectives and bias, and Arrive at what could be possible. We believe that every child has a unique voice that can be lost in an academic focus on right answers or technology programs that can 'sound' better than us. With a program designed around possibilities we ensure that every voice is heard.

    Director's Message

    Why Critical Thinking? My Story.

With over 20 years experience as a teacher within Canada, UK, China and Ghana I have had the pleasure of working with numerous children, all with their own unique and wonderful abilities. I have covered the range of education from 4-years of age to 18 with a particular focus on 6-11-year-olds in Science. One thing I have noticed however, is in an academic world focused on right and wrong answers, and in a society where we fear the wellness and security of our children, there is less room and freedom for many children to explore their own ideas and path.  Add in an age where technology and AI continues to move at unprecedented rates, many students believe that the computers and others have better ideas and communication skills then they do. They can make decisions quickly based on popularity or the top results when doing a google search and rarely understand how to gather, consider and identify key information that is needed to make a decision that is not only benefical for themselves but also for a diverse community.

    WHOA!

When I noticed this decrease in confidence to think critically or to consider possibilities and ideas as well as the hesitancy to innovate and create, Drop Thought Kids was born. It is based around my Critical Thinking Model called WHOA! In it we drop in ideas to Wonder about, stimulating curiosity and considering what do we know versus what is left unknown. We Harness the skills of research, credible sources, experimenting and making surveys. We Open to perspectives, consider biases while identifying are desires to be right. Finally, we Arrive at a solution, a new idea, creation or a possibility. It's a multi-curricular process and a skill needed in all disciplines from the creative arts, to sciences, business and daily interactions.

    Drop Thought Kids Workshops

Drop Thought Kids focuses on building confidence and the skills to critically think in a fun and imaginative environment. It has been run successfully in schools in England and Shanghai and now returns home to Canada.  With a passion for education and a great appreciation for children and their parents, we work to pack each session with fun ideas to think about and hands-on activities to build or test. It is based around possibilities and guiding children in navigating their own path to form a better decision. We have a lot of fun, support others' ideas and become critical thinkers.
