Whether kids and teens are new to acro dance or have experience in other dance styles, acro camps are a great experience. At primary aged camps, kids learn foundational skills. They grow more flexible through conditioning, stretching, and dancing. At junior camps, kids learn more fun acro tricks such as cartwheels or handstands. An intermediate acro dance camp offers more elaborate, often solo, routines that showcase harder tricks.
Some acro dance camps list circus activities. Arts and crafts, tumbling, and music activities are often integrated into these programs. Jazz dance lessons may be mixed with acro training in one camp. Thanks to their similarities in movements and music used, there’s a seamless transition between dance styles.
Kids and teens acquire balance, coordination, and spatial awareness skills at acro camp. As they perform on stage, children build a unique stage presence that increases their self-esteem. Acro dance camps run throughout the summer, although some begin earlier. Boys and girls as young as 3 years old can find the camp right for them. Prices for acro camps start at $120.
Advanced acro dance camps teach more complex flips, turns, kicks, and jumps. Camps build children’s skills naturally through careful rehearsal. Some common safety precautions used in camps include spotting, the use of soft mats, appropriate uniforms, and lessons in protection. Children with special needs receive extra, and more attentive, support during camp as well.
In smaller sized classes, dance teachers can pay more attention to individual students to make sure they are safe and supporting one another.
While your son or daughter finds a creative outlet at acro dance camps, there are other skills and benefits your child might gain from this kind of camp.:
