Spend the week at our farm just 25 minutes from Calgary, Cochrane, and Airdrie. Participants will learn how to backcountry hike and camp, trail ride, and more! Spend every night in a tent, some close to amenities and others deep in the forest on the farm a short hike away. Learn to pack an overnight pack, cook backcountry meals, build fires, identify plants/wildlife, pitch a tent and many introductory skills to backcountry camping. Part of the days will also be spent learning to trail ride responsibly with horses: learn to pack saddle bags, tie a horse safely in the backcountry, and proper trail etiquette.
Most supplies and food provided. Participants will be required to bring a sleeping bag, clothing, and a fun backpacking meal of their choice. Participants may bring their own backpack and other equipment if they have it, but we will provide equipment as needed.
Participants must already have riding experience in a regular lesson program. They must be able to steer at a walk and trot confidently.
