(5) Overall experience

Before camp, my son was a little hesitant. He’s a quiet 8-year-old, so he wasn’t sure what to expect. I was conflicted too—should I send him to his usual sports camp or try something different? I’m so glad we chose the Wholesome Character summer camp! From the first day, he came home buzzing about all the fun he was having. By the end of the week, he was grinning from ear to ear, talking about the friends he’d made, the cool activities, and even what the policeman shared about internet safety. After camp, I noticed a big shift in him. He seemed more confident in himself like he’d found his voice a little more. It wasn’t just about the fun (though he had plenty of that!); he really took in some of the lessons they shared, and it’s been amazing to see him carry that into his day-to-day life. For me, as a mum, it was such a relief to see him not just thrive but really enjoy himself in a new environment. It’s hard to put into words what it means to watch your child grow, make connections, and come out stronger because of an experience like this. Would I send him back? Without a doubt! It was such a fantastic balance of learning and fun, and he came home with memories and lessons that will stick with him. I can’t wait to see what he’ll learn next year!

(5) Reason for choosing the camp

I’d met the owner before, and as we chatted, I realized we shared the same values—it just felt right. We chose this camp over others (sports camp) because it wasn’t just about fun; it was about growing his character. And was it worth it? 100%. No hidden costs, no surprises—just an experience that left my boy smiling, confident, and ready to take on the world.

(5) Program quality and activities

The camp was such a great fit for my son’s interests and more! I expected him to have fun, but I didn’t realize how much he’d learn, too. He especially loved the teamwork activities and the session with the police officer on internet safety—it really stuck with him. The volunteers were so hands-on and made sure every activity had a purpose. You could tell they genuinely cared, and it showed in how engaged and excited the kids were every day!

(5) Social dynamics and experience

He definitely made new friends, which was such a joy to see! I loved hearing him talk about learning to stand up for himself, and knowing when it’s okay to involve a teacher. It sounds like they really focused on inclusion and gave the kids tools to handle tricky situations. Honestly, it was a relief as a mum to know he was in such a supportive environment!

(5) Skills and growth

The camp really helped my son build his courage and confidence. They talked to him about being brave and stepping out of his comfort zone, and it must have clicked because he keeps bringing it up! He even went on the Vortex ride at Canada’s Wonderland—something he’d usually run from. I love seeing him face challenges with a bit more self-belief now. It’s those little lessons that really stick and make a big difference!

(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

The staff at the camp were fantastic—always kind and polite during drop-offs and pick-ups. They communicated daily via email, which kept me in the loop and reassured me he was having a great time. I didn’t hear about any conflicts, but I trust that, in such a positive environment, they’d handle things thoughtfully if anything came up.

(5) Advice and tips

If you’re considering this camp, I’d say go for it—it’s such a worthwhile experience! The focus on building confidence, making friends, and learning important life lessons is amazing. Be prepared for your child to come home with stories. Honestly, I wish I’d known how much he’d grow from it—I wouldn’t have stressed so much about choosing between this and a sports camp. It was 100% the right decision!
