(5) Overall experience

My kids were happy every day going to camp! They made new friends and learned about time management, emotional intelligence, resilience, confidence, identity, communication, and other leadership skills. They will be back this summer! I will send them back because they learned a lot and they made new friends. They will like to reconnect with some of their old friends and learn new things. The experience they had last year has raised their expectation for this year and they definitely want to return.

(5) Reason for choosing the camp

I wanted my kids to go to a leadership camp. I chose this camp because I previously attended online programs with the organizers and the curriculum was great. So, when I heard about the in-person camp, I quickly applied. I knew they were going to provide a great experience for my kids. The organizers are passionate. The location was also perfect for my family.

(5) Program quality and activities

My kids were engaged throughout. They particularly enjoyed the rewards and shopping after the program. My son had a great experience with the police department presentation and the tour. I like that the venue was within a school premises. It had outdoor and indoor spaces for the kids to spread out. Staff welcomed the kids with a smile daily. Safety was a priority and security was provided.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

My kids made new friends. The kids were comfortable and relaxed throughout. There were no issues with bullying. There were no problems, concerns, or complaints with my kids or any of their friends during the camp. The staff were on the ground and were engaged with the children. In my opinion, they had a lot of staff, all in uniform, working with the kids, so this definitely helped.

(5) Skills and growth

My children got better at managing their tasks and priorities. They also became more confident and improved their communication skills. My kids became more expressive of their emotions. They worked in teams, played games in teams and the teamwork helped them to be better team players and team leaders. They learned to be more respectful and tolerant of others.

(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

They had a lot of staff working with the kids. Emails were sent home daily. My kids came home with crafts daily and they were always excited to share their creativity with us at home. The staff had a great attitude and were hands-on with the kids. The management team was responsive.

(5) Advice and tips

Parents should sign up their kids quickly before the space fills up. The children will learn a lot and they will come back home excited every day. I just wanted my kids to be in a safe, nurturing, and learning environment and that was exactly what I got. The organizers reached out to us 2 weeks and 1 week before to go over camp rules, instructions, and the first day of camp. The organizers went above and beyond to support the kids and families.

Before camp, my son was a little hesitant. He’s a quiet 8-year-old, so he wasn’t sure what to expect. I was conflicted too—should I send him to his usual sports camp or try something different? ...
