Online Math and Coding Camps

By: University of Toronto, Department of Mathematics

About this Program:

Grade 3/4 Online Summer Camp: Math All Around Us

Join us on an exciting journey to explore how mathematics is intertwined in the world around us! From the intricate patterns in games and puzzles to the logic behind shape transformations and numerical arrangements, students are sure to see the correlation between mathematics and our daily lives. This course covers a range of fundamental principles and topics, including algebraic reasoning, geometry, and pattern identification, through a series of hands-on projects and activities.

Grade 5/6 Online Summer Camp: Introduction to Math in Logic & Coding (Python)

Coding at all levels have one thing in common; they all depend on logical reasoning, problem solving and mathematics. In this course, students will explore the beautiful connection between Math and Coding through fun and interactive projects that help them understand the basics of coding. Relevant Coding Language: Python

Note: This is an introductory camp, if you have a coding background, you may consider joining the Gr 7/8 coding camp.

Grade 6/7 Online Summer Camp: Exploring Elementary Number Theory

This camp explores number theory through a wide range of fun concepts and topics! Throughout the week, students will get an opportunity to explore a wide range of branches in number theory ranging from proofs and problem solving techniques used in games and puzzles to the importance of cryptography used throughout history. Students will also learn concepts such as divisibility and modular arithmetic, and understand how these concepts are used in modern day.

Grade 9/10 Online Summer Camp: Introduction to Reading, Writing and Discovering Proofs

This course offers an introductory exploration into proof-based mathematics, focusing on fundamental concepts and techniques. Throughout the course, students will become familiarized with abstraction, rigour, logic, and proofs. Students will delve into elementary logic and various methods of proof, such as contradiction, contrapositive, and induction. By the end of the course, students will be comfortable in reading, writing, and understanding mathematical statements and arguments.
