Thank you for your interest in The STEAM Project. They will be in touch with you shortly.
Our son who was 6 years old when he joined the STEAM Project in the summer had a blast! We originally signed him up for 2 of the 4 sessions offered, but he enjoyed it so much that he asked to go back for more. So we reached out to the coordinators and they were very helpful and able to sign him up for another week. Even after just the first day, he told me he loved it and wanted to go back every day. He usually doesn't talk much about what happens in school, but when he is attending the STEAM project, he talks about the staff he meets (e.g. counsellors), and the activities they do together. It is obvious that he is having a good time there with everyone. Registration was all online and easy. Customer service was great - I just emailed them any time if there was a question. Overall, we had a wonderful experience with the Steam project (see below for more details). The only con is that it is pretty expensive when compared to other camps. But if you can afford it and your child loves STEAM, they will love the STEAM Project. Our son will be back next summer!
We chose this camp because it is STEAM-related and our son loved STEAM things and creating things. There were lots of hands-on projects. A parent I know highly recommended it as well. I would choose this camp over other camps not only because of the content but also because of all the staff I met have been the most welcoming and warmest. Lots of attention to detail and you can tell that they are really well-trained. See my example of my son's allergy and how they took care of it. The experience was worth the investment to us, and there were no hidden costs.
The projects were interesting to my son. He has always been interested in creating things and loved STEAM in general, so being able to do woodworking, use LEDs to build glowing objects, and make a model of the earth/moon/sun, were all fun projects for him. They have outdoor time as well as fun activities such as water day. So it's not all indoor STEAM fun. Overall we thought it was a good balance between individual STEAM projects, group activities, and indoor & outdoor activities.
As the staff made our son feel comfortable, he was able to make friends with his classmates and the counsellors very quickly. As mentioned, the staff are very welcoming, and at pickup/drop off they always note things about our son that show how much they care and their attention to details (e.g. noting what his interests are, what they chatted about that day, projects they did and how he did). There weren't any issues related to bullying or inclusion that we faced.
My son gained some woodworking skills, arts & crafts skills, team-working skills, and STEAM knowledge from the STEAM project summer camp. For example, one of the earth/sun/moon rotatable models they made used an LED light to demonstrate how the sun shines on the earth and moon. So he was able to illustrate exactly what happens when they are rotating.
All the staff we met there are warm, caring, and welcoming. Every morning the students are greeted passionately by everyone with fun dances. They all made my son so comfortable since day 1. Classes are small as well. His class had less than 10 people at a time with 2-4 counsellors, so the kids had plenty of attention. Our son also has multiple food allergies (anaphylactic) and needs to carry an EpiPen. The nurse there was so nice and fantastic! She reached out to us by phone before camp started to confirm all the details. At pick-up, she made sure to report any small hives or any health-related issues that she might notice. I felt safe sending my son there. They do have meal plans for some locations, but due to my son's allergy, we packed our own lunch and it was fine.
If you are interested in booking, I would recommend booking early to take advantage of their early bird discounts. There is also a referral credit, I believe, if you are referring others to the camp. The camp is a little bit more on the expensive side, but we think it's worth it for the quality of content and staff you are getting, as well as the low staff-to-child ratio.
