The NYC was founded in 1894, and was first known, charmingly, as the National Yacht and Skiff Club. It’s grown and changed over the years, but throughout has remained a cornerstone of sailing in the city. The location, to be sure, is one of the benefits—accessible by public transportation, it’s also a place of escape, a chance to get away from the bustle of the city and mess about in boats. The club remains an expression of the community it serves, and is also host to a number of annual regattas. When campers arrive, they enter that world—the culture of sailing, the community it represents—and are granted an opportunity to escape within it while also learning essential skills from some of the best. Certified instructors make it fun, active, and exciting, all within the shadow of the Toronto skyline.

Hello Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for looking into the National Yacht Club Sailing and Racing School for your child this summer!
As a graduate of the program, I can tell you that this camp will be a wonderful adventure for your child. They will of course be having fun outside and learning new skills, but this camp will also help with self-confidence and problem solving as no two days on the water are exactly the same.
We have successfully run our sailing school for almost 70 years, and have taken that time to grow and innovate. We have kept up to date with the latest teaching methods (all of our instructors are CANSail certified) and used our expertise to tailor them to best suit our campers.
This camp is great for children aged 7-18, and is great for all levels - from people who have never set foot on a boat (CANSail 1) to those who have a lot of racing experience (CANSail 5/6). These days in particular, this is a great opportunity for kids to socialize outdoors.
After running a safe and successful program in 2025, we look forward to another great summer!
Hope to see you on the water,
Gabrielle Blais-Jones,
Vice Commodore - Education
Our staff are highly qualified Sail Canada certified instructors, each equipped with sailing-specific training and a passion for sharing their love of the sport. With first aid, CPR/AED, boat safety training, and practical experience using the CANSail curriculum, campers learn from the best! With a staff-to-sailor ratio ranging between 6-10, depending on the level and type of boat, personalized attention is guaranteed. Many of our instructors choose to return summer after summer, with some having been students in the program themselves. Their contagious enthusiasm for sailing makes the learning experience educational AND fun. It's not just about teaching sailing; it's about inspiring and shaping the next generation of sailors.
