The Our Kids review of YMCA John Island Camp and YMCA NEO Summer Day Camps

    our take

With many options to choose from, YMCA John Island Camp and YMCA NEO Summer Day Camps are an easy go-to for children who want to experience everything. Located in Northeastern Ontario in the North Channel of Lake Huron, many activities are water-focused, like swimming, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, and kayaking. Kids get to choose their activities or program streams to participate in over the course of their stay, meaning they are in control of what they get to do. Whether that’s trying something new or perfecting skills at something they already love, kids at YMCA John Island Camp are never bored. The focus at this camp is on adventure, trying new things, and making new friendships. Lifelong connections are guaranteed. At the end of the summer, John Island offers a family camp, where families can get together and experience camp life. All of the regular amenities of camp apply and it is a great bonding experience. Notably, their beaches, trails, wildlife, and of course, campfires, are the highlights for most campers. Their very long history (almost 70 years!) of camping is a testament to what they offer.
