Alberta Open Farms Days is an incubator for agri-tourism and rural sustainability. We bring people together through educational and experiential agricultural-based initiatives to learn about where your food comes from. At Wildhorse Ranch we are a Feast of the Five Senses where you can engage them all during your time here. We have a large permaculture garden that showcases what can be grown in Alberta. Come sample/buy products that we grow like: carrots, peas, beets, lettuce, spinach, potatoes, kale, and more. Our cut flower garden is a colorful display of beauty - you can take part in a gathering in the garden and pick flowers that make you happy! or you can buy a ready made bouquet to take home. Regenerative agriculture is very important to us and we are using many native species in our gardens. The fruit bushes and orchard contains a large unique variety of products, we will have some for sale and some for "sampling"! The list includes: saskatoons, honey berries, raspberries, black currents, cranberries, blueberries, apricots, pears, prairie cherries, apples and gooseberries. Plus we will be offering a "horse connection workshops" in 1/2 hours segments - sign up required and there is a cost. Please call or email if you would like more information. Its a Fun event and there are other farms and ranches in the area that are hosting activities. Come for a day of Fun on the Farms and Ranches!

Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Curiosity: Do you know where your food comes from? Home grown food is more nutrient dense and better for your health. Learn and permaculture, regenerative agriculture, slow flowers, local products, horse connections and so much more!
  • Resilience: Learn how to garden, become self sufficient. Start small, we can show you many ways to garden without having "a conventional garden". Food sovereignty is important!
