This entrepreneurship camp empowers students to turn their creative ideas into an entrepreneurial endeavour. Throughout the camp, students will learn how to prototype their concepts, grasp the fundamentals of pricing, target audience, marketing, and understand what goes into creating a compelling pitch deck. Students will learn how to turn ideas into action, collaborate on projects, present to an audience of their peers, and much more.

Although this camp is a stand alone camp, consider also registering for the Maker Lab: Digital Design and Fabrication camp in which students learn how to design logos and produce swag for their businesses.

When and Where?

Monday July 28 - Friday August 1, 2025.

1:00-4:00pm.

Location: The Vancouver School for Science and Technology (VISST): 1490 West Broadway, Vancouver.

Who?

This camp is for students going into grades 6-8.

Why should you attend?

Developing a compelling pitch: By the end of the camp, students will have developed a final product or service and a professional pitch deck to present to potential stakeholders.

Earn a certificate of completion from the Vancouver Independent School for Science and Technology.

Learn something that is not taught in school: how to turn an idea into action, how people make decisions, how businesses manipulate customers, how money works, etc.

Practice important skills you will use in all stages of your life including negotiation, collaboration, communication, brainstorming and presentation skills.

What will you learn?

Prototyping: Students learn the importance of prototyping and how to create a model of a product or process for testing and for gathering feedback.

Pricing: How do you determine the optimal price for a product and service? For example, why is a product priced at $1.99 sell better than the same product priced at $2?

Identifying your target audience: Students will delve into questions like “Who should you sell to?” and “Why is it important to identify a specific audience for your product?”

Marketing: Students will brainstorm ideas around how they will let their potential customers know about their products or services.
