Delve into sustainability and learn about the “United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, while experimenting, making deep observations, and playing games. In this hands-on camp with lots of outdoor activities, we break down complex topics such as biodiversity, clean energy and population health into easily understood concepts to expand and deepen students’ understanding of the world around them.

What will you learn?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Countries around the world are actively working to reach the SDGs, but what are these and how are they helpful? Reflect on the interrelationships between biodiversity, poverty, equity, and health.

How do we get clean water? Learn about the water cycle, the impact of pollutants, and how we can clean contaminated waterways.

Mysteries of the big and tiny organisms in our lives: There is rich biodiversity that we can observe from different scales - from large animals to tiny bacteria. Observe organisms, learn about food webs and the interactions between animals. We will dive into cells, understanding that bacteria are not always ‘bad’.

How can we use energy efficiently? Learn about the different forms of energy and reflect on sources of energy around the world. In hands-on activities, we will explore how electricity works.

Health promotion: What does it mean to be ‘healthy’? How can we untangle different health messages from different sources? Explore the facets of health, including physical and mental health, and learn to identify health misinformation online. We will explore nutrition in terms of our personal health, and also from a global perspective.

Additional Notes

This is primarily an outdoor camp. Please provide your child with a water bottle, sun screen, weather appropriate clothing, a hat, comfortable footwear and snacks.
