Red Wolf overnight camp is a transformative outdoor experience for kids. Campers have the rare opportunity to fully immerse themselves in wilderness. Living backcountry with peers and experienced mentors, campers explore the forest, sleep in tents, learn new wilderness skills, play nature games, and more. They leave with a sense of accomplishment, self-confidence and resilience, life-long friendships, and a deep connection to nature.

These two-week programs are designed for new or returning campers who are craving more time in the backcountry. The extended duration of these two-week programs allows campers to deepen their engagement with nature and build stronger bonds with their peers and the land. Over this period, campers develop:

  • Enhanced Crafting & Skills: More time at camp means more opportunities to master wilderness skills and work on larger projects, such as fire-making & friction fire, bushcraft & shelter-building, foraging, and much more.
  • Stronger Friendships: The extended stay with the same group fosters deeper connections among campers, creating a supportive and inclusive community.
  • Increased Confidence: Facing and overcoming challenges in the wilderness boosts self-esteem and resilience. Two-week campers have more opportunity for self-directed challenges, like solos and overnights.
  • Deeper Nature Connection: Immersing in nature for an extended period allows campers to really tune into the baseline of the forest around them and notice the subtle rhythms and interactions of the ecosystem, creating a deeper sense of harmony with the natural world. Two-week campers get the chance to explore new areas of the beautiful Haliburton Forest.
  • Leadership Skills: The two-week duration provides more opportunities for campers to develop and practice leadership skills, guiding peers in activities and taking on responsibilities within the group.

We fill our time…

  • Swimming
  • Canoeing
  • Hiking
  • Traveling through the wilderness
  • Making bows and arrows and learning how to use them safely
  • Fishing
  • Creating fires by friction (and cooking dinner over them!)
  • Carving
  • Building shelters (and sometimes staying in them overnight!)
  • Tracking wildlife
  • Foraging for wild edibles
  • Camouflaging with natural materials
  • Tackling awareness challenges
  • Playing games
  • Going on overnight excursions

Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Resilience: At camp, we see challenges as opportunities for growth and natural consequences as moments of learning.
  • Curiosity: Our programs are founded on igniting curiosity. We encourage campers to ask questions about the world around them and explore their interests.
