Math 30-1 Essentials 16-17 years with STS

The Math 30-1 Essentials program is designed to help students prepare for their upcoming math course by reviewing key math concepts. The program runs for four evenings from August 26 to 29, focuses on core numeracy skills and strategies, and is an excellent opportunity to review key math concepts before the start of the school year. 
It is common for students to feel unprepared or nervous about their math course after a summer break. This program aims to provide direct and interactive instruction to help students stay engaged and build on their knowledge daily. It seeks to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere where students feel confident and prepared as they transition into Math 30-1. 
Students will review important mathematical concepts and building blocks that are useful in Math 30-1. They will learn about transformations, graphing functions, trigonometry, and algebraic equations and get a preview of Math 30-1. 

Instructor: Rebecca Steel

Rebecca holds a BSc. in general Mathematics and a BEd. in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Calgary. She has experience teaching several high school mathematics courses at Western Canada High School, including International Baccalaureate (IB) and English as a Second Language Mathematics. She has taught Math 10, 20, and 30 in addition to teaching summer school Math 10 and 30 classes with Chinook Learning Services. The Mathematics Council of The Alberta Teachers’ Association of Alberta, Dr. Arthur Jorgenson Chair Award was presented to Rebecca in 2005. She strives to make the classroom a creative, stimulating, and fun environment where we actively participate in learning the subject of mathematics.
