(5) Overall experience

I have been sending my kids here for 3 years and they love it! The programs are well run with thoughtful games and creative activities. The counsellors are wonderful and the environment is so fun. They always come home happy! At first they were nervous and hesitant to go but after the first day, they realize they have fun and are eager to go back. They have asked to go back every year so I've already signed up for next year!

(5) Reason for choosing the camp

Rouge Camps was recommended by a good friend. What a great referral! We were looking for a multi-sports camp near our house in Richmond Hill and this place not only came highly recommended, it also got great reviews and was affordable compared to other camps. The costs were as expected and we are happy with it so we keep coming back. The kids wish they had an overnight program, as well, so they could spend more time there!

(5) Program quality and activities

Rouge camps was full of great creative games and activities! My daughter chose badminton and dance for her electives whereas my son who is younger played all kinds of different games and sports. It was nice that they get exposed to all kinds of sports and activities from soccer baseball to octopus they had so much fun learning new games and learning news skills. My daughter gained a lot more confidence in her badminton skills and really enjoyed performing a new dance every week.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

My daughter made lots of friends. My son made some too, but especially enjoyed his relationships with the staff. The staff did a great job of trying to put friends together. One week my daughter didn't have any girls in her group so they switched her so that she could have some girls her age. My son has a bit more trouble connecting with kids at first but after a couple weeks he made some friends and the counsellors were very kind to him.

(4) Skills and growth

They developed skills in sports and coordination for example badminton and dance. This also allowed them to build up their confidence by trying new things and also performing in front of large groups. They also built good relationships and learned sportsmanship. My daughter hated volleyball but she was pushed to play and now she feels more comfortable and she improved significantly at bumping, volleying, and playing with kids her age. My daughter felt much more confident in dance and was hoping to be in the front for the performances but was always placed in the back so perhaps giving her more feedback on how she could have improved would have been beneficial.

(4.5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

The staff were friendly and great. We got daily brief updates when we picked up the kids every day. We got daily emails and highlights through social media. When there were any issues we would get an email from the director, we appreciated the transparency and openness. The admin side was good, too. Whenever we wanted to add pizza lunch or reschedule the weeks they were responsive and friendly. I would appreciate even more detailed personalized updates but overall no concerns and we always got feedback surveys after each week.

(4.5) Advice and tips

I would definitely recommend this camp to anyone looking for a multi-sports camp in the area. It was a good mix of indoor and outdoor sports and activities and they do a great job to make it fun for everyone. It's not all sports, they do craft and other games as well. On Fridays, they have waterplay which the kids loved, especially the big slip and slide and they would tell me which counsellors got soaked. At the end of the week, they would even get to pie-face the counsellors which they found hilarious.
