(4.5) Overall experience

The kids were not excited to participate in math tutoring for various reasons. However, we quickly saw a change in attitude towards the sessions and confidence towards math as the sessions progressed. It means a lot to my family to have the one-on-one support from someone who is patient and encouraging - confidence in their ability to do difficult things is the best gift you can give your kids at an early age. Yes, my children would would participate in these sessions again in the future.

(4.5) Reason for choosing the program

We have tried other programs and facilities in the past, but my child found it stressful to have to go to "another activity". We chose this program because of the time and effort that was taken to match my children to a private tutor to ensure a good match, as well as the convenience of my children's home sessions. It is 100% worth the investment, and the pricing is transparent.

(4) Program quality and activities

We have enrolled in the program for math tutoring one-on-one sessions. Our expectations were that the tutor align the appropriate curriculum based on their grade, while also testing their current knowledge to evaluate what their individual starting point of understanding was. The tutor provided a series of tests in order to evaluate their level of knowledge and understanding.

(3.5) Social dynamics and experience

These were home tutoring sessions. However, they have formed a good level of trust and support from the tutor which I was happy to see. They were able to relax and be themselves and not be worried about making mistakes or letting anyone down - this is a common issue we were experiencing in school (they were scared to let their teacher know if they were struggling).

(4) Skills and growth

Out kids have gained a lot of confidence since starting this program, and often look forward to the sessions, rather than complain about them. I believe this is because they are experiencing great support from the tutor, and she is able to pivot her plan in order to keep them enthusiastic and engaged throughout the session. The tutor has also recently introduced games as a form of learning, which has been a great addition to her planning.

(4) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

I really liked that the organization took the time to hear my concerns and reasons for looking into the program, and then took a lot of time and thought into placing my kids with someone who would be a good fit for them so they could learn and thrive quickly.

(4.5) Advice and tips

I would tell them to one hundred percent participate in a program like this. The time, support and encouragement were not something we were able to give ourselves, nor do we know how to teach our kids outside of the box in a way that would make sense to them. The tutoring has been extremely beneficial for their growth and development.
