(5) Overall experience
My sons both excelled working with the tutors provided in the areas of Math 9, Math 10, 20-1, 30-1 and a 1st year college Math course and English 30-1. The support, understanding, attention to detail, and knowledge of their individual learning needs far exceeded both me and my son's expectations. I truly believe that working with Prep tutors was the reason both my boys are confident and capable in their math classes. When my oldest started college we started looking for a tutor and he inquired if his math tutor from high school might be able to help him - sure enough his tutor worked hard to learn the material and again confidence was gained along with success. Not only are the tutors invested in the academics they also take time to know the needs and learning styles of their students to increase confidence in the subject material.
(5) Reason for choosing the program
I like the online access as when my sons started with Prep it was during COVID so it was a seamless transition for them to start with a tutor. Moving forward the relationship with Tonia and the tutors has been what has kept us returning and referring others. Tonia goes above and beyond to help my sons receive the best tutoring possible.
(5) Program quality and activities
The effectiveness of the programs provided in English and Math is in the confidence my sons have in the subject material. Time is taken to ensure that relevant material is covered within the course, and advice is shared in areas of concern as well, for example, test taking. Not only are the tutors helping with the course they share how to complete the work.
(5) Social dynamics and experience
My oldest has learning difficulties. The tutor that he worked with understood these needs and Tonia worked with us to make sure she understood how best to find the right tutor for our son's needs, this was through conversations with us and with our son. The tutors provided to us have been kind, and encouraging and never once has either of my sons felt the least bit intimidated.
(5) Skills and growth
My sons gained confidence and trust in course materials. My sons were able to move forward with their academic studies knowing that they would be able to access meetings with their tutor, we were able to double up on some sessions the month before my son's exams so that he was getting the extra support he needed to go over the increased course preparation.
(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors
Excellent instructors and Tonia is excellent to deal with. Tonia and my son's tutor went out of their way to make time for my son's needs, this included increasing the amount of sessions the month before final exams. Communication is clear and concise and every accommodation is made to meet our needs.
(5) Advice and tips
I highly recommend this program. We have used different programs before and for the past 3 + years we have continued to not only refer others but also use Prep tutors, for math and English and I would not hesitate to work in other academic subjects as well. There is great attention to detail in the learning and communications by Tonia and the tutors we have worked with.
