We teach kids the skills to confidently ride on their own
Whether your child is on a balance bike, a tricycle, or has already mastered riding on two wheels, we have classes designed to teach them at their comfort level and grow their skills and confidence even further.
Both full day and half day camps available:
To register for this level, kids must be age 4 or older by the end of the calendar year. Newbees are beginners who can't yet ride a two-wheel bike. To participate, they should come on a two-wheel bike with training wheels, though, we can teach them without training wheels, too. Newbees will learn how to pedal, steer, stop, and, if they are ready, balance on two wheels! We'll also cover the different parts of a bike and bike and helmet safety.
To register for this level, kids must be age 4 or older by the end of the calendar year. Advanced Newbees can balance and pedal a two-wheeler without assistance for at least five meters, but they still need a light push to start and/or assistance to stop. In this level, riders will work on becoming more independent by learning to start, stop, steer, and control their bikes independently. Kids are also introduced to more complex skills such as shoulder checking. Bike and helmet safety are covered, too.
To register for this level, kids must be age 4 or older by the end of the calendar year. Pedalheads must be competent riders with the fundamental skills to start, stop, and steer independently. Kids will continue to practice and improve their steering skills and bike control. The primary focus for this level is to prepare kids for riding on the road: they will master riding in single file, shoulder checking, hand signals, and navigating intersections. Please note that these classes do not go on the road. At the end of the week, kids get to participate in the exciting Junior Pedalheads Challenge.
To register for this level, kids must be turning 6 by the end of the calendar year. Advanced Pedalheads must be able to ride in a straight line for 20 metres (65 feet). They must be able to hold a hand signal for three seconds and shoulder check, all while maintaining a straight line. Advanced Pedalheads will learn how to anticipate potential dangers while street riding, how to cross simple intersections, and where it's safe to ride. All Advanced Pedalheads spend Monday onsite practising their skills and taking a road safety test to ensure they are ready for street riding on quiet, residential roads. Bike maintenance is also covered in this level.
To register for this level kids must be turning 6 by the end of the calendar year. Gearheads must be able to safely ride on residential roads, ride in a straight line for 20 metres (65 feet), and hold a hand signal for five seconds and shoulder check, all while maintaining a straight line. They should come to camp on a bike with gears. Gearheads will learn how, why, and when to use gears, how to cross intersections, how to do the hover position, and brake on steep hills.
To register for this level, kids must be turning 6 by the end of the calendar year. Treadheads must be able to safely ride on residential roads. They must be able to ride in a straight line for 20 metres (65 feet), change gears efficiently on flat terrain, and be able to hold a hand signal for five seconds and shoulder check, all while maintaining a straight line. Treadheads will learn beginner mountain bike skills, how to change gears up and down hill, how to prepare their bike for trail riding, and work on intermediate street riding skills (Treadheads ride in light traffic). Treadheads also develop their stamina with long-distance rides, learn emergency stops and front wheel lifts, and understand cadence.
