Get ready to enter the mysterious and moody world of Film Noir! In this immersive, hands-on camp, young filmmakers will dive deep into the iconic style of 1940s crime dramas. From dramatic lighting and shadow play to suspenseful scripts and striking camera angles, campers will learn how to act, direct, and produce their own noir-inspired film. By the end of the week, they’ll debut their very own version of the classic thriller Double Indemnity!

What to Expect:

Each day combines acting, directing, and filmmaking techniques, building toward the creation of a full film:

  • Day 1 (Intro to Film Noir & Camera Angles 101): Discover the history and style of Film Noir, explore dramatic acting techniques, and practice key camera angles while performing scenes from Double Indemnity.
  • Day 2 (Role Assignments & Scene Practice): Choose your role—whether in front of the camera as an actor or behind it as director, cinematographer, or editor—and rehearse pivotal scenes using classic noir techniques.
  • Day 3 (Filming Day 1): Lights, camera, action! Begin filming your noir masterpiece, using shadowy lighting and dramatic storytelling to bring the mystery to life.
  • Day 4 (Filming Day 2 & Noir Photography): Wrap up filming, then create your own Film Noir photoshoots and posters using striking light and shadow techniques.
  • Day 5 (Editing & Film Premiere): Edit your final film using iMovie, add the finishing touches, and debut your cinematic creation in a special screening for the class.

Campers will:

  • Learn the elements of Film Noir, including lighting, dialogue, and storytelling techniques.
  • Gain hands-on experience with directing, acting, filming, and editing.
  • Develop skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and creative expression through collaborative projects.
  • Create personalized movie posters and dramatic photos inspired by classic noir films.

Who Should Attend:

Film Noir is perfect for kids ages 11-12 who love storytelling, acting, and filmmaking. Whether your child is a budding director, a natural performer, or simply fascinated by classic cinema, this camp offers a unique and exciting opportunity to explore their creativity.

Step into the world of shadows, mystery, and suspense with Film Noir! Spaces fill quickly, so register today for a week of cinematic storytelling, dramatic performances, and unforgettable film production!
