Everyone belongs here. We work hard to create a safe, collaborative, supportive space for kids to explore the world around them. We are uniquely positioned on the river and have been teaching kids and adults to sail since 1979. This location and history of experience enables us to introduce kids to the freedom that comes when sailing. It also allows us to develop life skills through sport. Our sailing programs uniquely emphasize cultivating a love and respect for the water while mastering the art of harnessing the wind. At the heart of our culture is a growth mindset that permeates through our nurturing and encouraging environment. Here, children thrive in an atmosphere of fun and support, fostering their personal growth.

The Our Kids review of Nepean Sailing Club

    our take

“The goal is not to sail the boat, but rather to help the boat sail herself.” The Nepean Sailing Club introduces would-be sailors to the sport of sailing, and helps them develop their sea legs. Time flies by as kids and adults develop sailing skills in a fun and very hands-on way. Their award-winning program focuses on creating a safe and collaborative environment where kids are encouraged and have the freedom to explore and try out what they are learning. The Nepean Sailing Club is Canada’s largest and they cater to every level of sailor. Their camps incorporate both water and land sports, all of which help develop interpersonal skills, teamwork, and individual goal-setting and achievement. Leadership is a large part of sailing, and the instructors at The Nepean Sailing Club are highly-qualified and empower their students to become leaders as well. The equipment is well-maintained and they have a large range of boats, along with state-of-the-art facilities.

My two girls have attended NSC for a few years now. They have grown so much and what Shawn has done with the program has revolutionized what summer camp is. Our girls are signed up again and look forward to summer 2024!

    Director's Message

If there is one thing Shawn loves more than sailing, it’s giving others the chance to experience it! Shawn is the Sailing Activities Manager at NSC and you’ll most likely see him at the Sail Training Centre engaging with students, supporting instructors, empowering volunteers and doing his best to ensure everyone on site is having the best NSC experience possible. When he’s not working, you’ll find him enjoying his CS33 with his family of seven! Fun Facts: Shawn is a certified scuba diver, certified Sailing Instructor an accomplished musician and will never turn down a bowl of seafood chowder. He used to own and operate a bakery and he loves audiobooks.

As the manager of our Sailing Camp, I take pride in curating an experience that fosters independence and problem-solving skills through the thrilling adventure of sailing. Our dedicated team shares this passion and is committed to providing a supportive environment where every camper can flourish. We believe in the power of nurturing friendships and skills that will shape each child's future. Since 2020, it has been my privilege to guide young adventurers towards memorable experiences and valuable life lessons, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you in 2024!
