Neighbour Note offers students an exceptional learning experience. Students get a chance to learn to play the drums with extremely skilled, talented, and professional teachers. Neighbour Note offers drum set lessons and percussion lessons. Drum lessons at Neighbour Note can be taken online, or in person at our High Park studio in Toronto, or right in the comfort of your Toronto home. Our teachers will travel to your home to teach you and your children!
The difference between Neighbour Note and other music schools is the education and experience of their teachers. The faculty at Neighbour Note consists of some of the highest educated teachers in North America. Many teachers at Neighbour Note have completed a PhD or DMA in music and many have Masters degrees. The drum lesson rates at Neighbour Note are among the lowest in the city so students are getting the highest level of music education for some of the lowest rates.
The Neighbour Note drum studio has been fully renovated in 2019. It is very well lit with lots of natural light. Some of the brand name drum kits Neighbour Note uses are: Pearl, Tama, Yamaha, Sonor, and Roland. Pitched percussion instrument brand names used are Sonar and Suzuki. Non-pitched percussion brands used include Granite Percussion and Toca. Cymbals used are Zildjian and Meinl. Drum stick and mallet brands used are Vic Firth and Zildjian.
The drum faculty at Neighbour Note includes: Tyler Davloor, Simon Miminis, and Karel Gondor. Tyler is a Berklee College of Music graduate who has completed his Bachelor of Music degree with the highest distinction. He has extensive experience on the drum set and is quite knowledgeable in Rock, Pop, R&B/Funk, Blues, Jazz, Fusion and their sub-genres. Simon is working on his Masters degree in composition at York University. He has been involved in scoring dozens of film and commercial projects many of which have screened at established international film festivals such as TIFF, Hot Docs, and the Nickel Independent Film Festival. Simon has received several nominations and awards for his scores including the Toronto Youth Shorts Film Festival for best sound design, the Duke Ellington Society Scholarship for excellence in composition, and an Arts and Letters Award from the Provincial Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Simon has completed a Bachelor of Music degree at Humber College. Karel has also graduated from Humber College with a Bachelor of Music degree. During his time at Humber College, Karel was featured in many of Humber's showcase concert series in styles such as Cuban and Brazilian music.
