    Truly Amazing

I have been going to Kemur since 2015 and my time there has been truly amazing. It was where I first learned the values of community and friendship. As a camper, I developed confidence, made life long friends and discovered many passions. Now as a camp counsellor, I have the privilege of guiding younger generations of campers through their own growth journeys. The experiences that I had at Kemur camp have deepened my desire to create positive impacts in children's lives, leading me to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher. The skills that I've learned in communication, problem-solving, empathy and healthy child development at camp have made me even more determined to foster a nurturing environment where young students can thrive. ... Highly Recommend to Everyone

Growing up, I thought about Kemur all year and there was nothing I was more excited for than my weeks at camp. I always absolutely loved my counsellors, the horses as well as the food!! Lee, Erin, and Brian are absolutely lovely, they take the best care of the property, the horses and each and every camper.  I have the fondest memories of my summers at camp and made some lifelong friends throughout my time as camp. I am beyond grateful for my time spent at Kemur and would highly recommend it to anyone. ... Show More

    My second home

I spent 6 years as a camper at Kemur, and then returned as a counsellor for a number of years. The memories I have from being both a camper and staff member are some of the happiest of my life. Kemur was always my happy place and I never had a day there where I wasn’t smiling the entire time. The counsellors were amazing and gave me the best role models to look up to. The friends I made at camp were and still are some the people I feel the closest too, and I have no doubt that our shared experiences at camp fully facilitated the development of those relationships. Kemur also introduced me to horses, which has been a constant joy and passion in my life since that first day I rode a Kemur pony. Kemur gave me a place to be fully myself, enjoy the things that I love, and meet some amazing people along the way. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to both attend camp and to work there. The care that Lee, Erin, and Brian put into each and every camper and staff member is like nothing I have experienced anywhere else. My experiences at Kemur have shaped me as a person, and I will forever cherish the place that was like a second home for many years ... Show More

    Home away from home

Kemur always was a home away from home for me. Everyone was so welcoming, and I instantly made lifelong friends. We spent our days not just riding and taking care of the horses, but also laughing around the campfire, sharing stories, and supporting each other. It was a place where I felt truly myself, surrounded by people who shared the same passion and excitement. I left Kemur with a heart full of memories and friendships that will last forever ... Feels like a second home

My journey at Kemur Camp began in 2022 when I was 11, and it was my first time at a sleepaway camp. I was really nervous about being away from my family for a whole week, but Kemur quickly felt like a second home. I fell in love with everything—the activities, the food, my friends, and especially the sense of community. The staff at Kemur were amazing; they made sure everyone was having a great time and their passion for camp was evident. I spent two years as a camper at Kemur, and now I’m looking forward to training to become staff when I’m old enough. Kemur Camp has made me appreciate summer in a whole new way, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to spend part of my summer there ... Show More

    A life-changing and enriching experience

Camp Kemur was an unforgettable experience, and returning for three years made it even more special. As a horseback riding camp, it offered a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of horses and improve my riding skills. Each year, I gained more confidence and technical ability, from mastering different riding techniques to learning how to care for the horses, which became a deeply rewarding responsibility. The camp also provided a sense of community, where I could connect with like-minded individuals who shared a passion for equestrian sports. The peaceful surroundings, long trail rides, and the bond I developed with the horses were some of the highlights that made each summer at Camp Kemur a life-changing and enriching experience ... BEST WEEK EVER

Since I was raised around (and still love) farm animals, I was sent to Kemur camp at age 8 to learn how to ride horses. I was so nervous to go to camp the first time and didn’t think it would be ‘my thing’, but that summer and every summer since, I have returned home from Kemur having had the BEST time of the year.  I come home with a huge smile, a pep in my step, new found confidence and such amazing friendships, impatient to sign up for the next year.  I have gone for 8 years now and despite always being nervous, the conclusion is always the same…BEST WEEK EVER!!! It is such a positive environment whether you are shy or not, friends and fun are easy to find.  From setting up your bunk on ‘move in day’, going to the campfire and finding out which is your  horse the next morning, the weeks would always go by so fast and are filled with adventure and fun. The many games, songs, skits, swimming and other activities made boredom impossible…oh, I can’t forget a shout out to the awesome food too! Kemur camp was and will continue to be the highlight of my summer so much so as I am now working towards being a counsellor there too so I can make other kids' weeks there just as good as mine were ... One of the best parts of my childhood

My time at Kemur Camp was one of the best parts of my childhood and truly shaped who I am today. Horseback riding was just the beginning; I had tons of fun participating in games, campfires, and special activities with friends. Spending time with the horses, both riding and caring for them, taught me valuable life skills like responsibility, patience, and empathy. These experiences helped me build confidence and develop a love for animals that stays with me. The laughter, friendships, and lessons I learned at Kemur Camp have left a lasting impact on my life, and I cherish those memories dearly ... Show More

    My Happy Place

I have been coming to Kemur since I was 9 years old, and ever since, it has always been a highlight of my summer. It has had a huge impact on me, especially my first summer, because it was my first time at a sleep away camp, and I was so nervous. I always made so many friends when I came there, no matter if I went with a friend, or by myself. There were always people, staff, (and animals!) that were so so kind to me. The time with the horses and the experience in general is truly unforgettable, and every year I would count down the days until I could go back. I look forward to coming back in future summers on staff to help provide campers the experience I had. Forever thankful to call Kemur my happy place ... Show More

    Director's Message

Girls and horses! This is what we know and love at Kemur. In 1969 my parents Keith and Chirs Murray had a vision to turn their rolling farmland into a place where girls could live and breath horses.  Year after year we continue to welcome girls into our world where they make fast friends talking about their love of horses. We take pride not only in our modern facilities but safe, fun and supportive atmosphere. Most of our staff have been campers and are eager to provide the next generation with lasting memories and horse experiences.

Kemur is a place to be yourself, breath clean country air and enjoy the view from horseback.

    Staff and Counsellors

Our counsellors share a deep love for horses and years of dedication to Kemur. Many have grown up with us, starting as campers, then CITS, and later becoming counsellors—some with over 10 summers at Kemur! All staff are first aid certified, with many holding lifeguard certification alongside our dedicated lifeguard. With a 2:7 staff-to-camper ratio, our 9 counsellors and 3 CITS ensure every camper builds meaningful connections and receives personalized mentorship, fostering confidence and growth both in and out of the saddle.

    • KEMUR IS AWESOME!
My favourite part about Kemur Camp is the food! I love the people there. Everyone is so sweet. The camp is beautiful and so are the facilities. Overall Kemur is by far the best camp I've ever been to!!
    • I love Kemur!
Kemur Camp is the best camp ever! I loved the food, the horses and the talent show on the last day. The best part of all was after a long fun ride taking a dip in the pool with your friends! Abby Dyer, age 8
    • First Time Camper
Summer 2011 was my first year going to Kemur Camp. At first I was worried about going for a whole week but once I got there I knew it was going to be the best week ever. I knew right away I would love this camp and I would make a ton of friends. The day came to when we got to ride horses. I got paired up with Dawson. He was the greatest horse I could have asked for. Dawson was a great horse to ride for the first time. Kemur Councellors have fun and active activities planned for each day. My favourite part about each day was riding the horses and having frozen juice down in the Pavillion. Most nights we would go down to the Pavillion and have an activity like a Dance Party, or a Talent Show. Finally came the last day where all the awards came. That was my favourite part. You get a ribbon and a booklet that you will always remember abotu Kemur. Saying Good-Bye is the hardest thing to do but all you hope is to see them next summer. I would recommend this camp to any girl who would love to learn how to ride and loves to have fun. Kemur is the best camp ever!!!!!!!!
