Tech Program

Minecraft Java Modded Servers

Galacticraft and the Create Mod goes boldly where no Minecraft mod has gone before: Astronomy & Physics.  In the Galacticraft mod, students will get to explore new planets, collect resources, build energy sources, and survive in the far reaches of the galaxy.  In the Create mod, students will build their own working machines, automatic elevators, and whatever their imaginations can dream up.   It's a wonderful adventure that's completely unique when compared to other Minecraft mods.

Areas of Focus: Students will get to:

  • Travel throughout the solar system!
  • Create and customize their very own spaceship!

Prerequisites for the students:

  • Mac or PC (no chromebooks or iPads) with a 3 button mouse that can run Minecraft with several mod packs installed.  Each student will have an appointment with Charles Rotenberg to ensure everything is running properly before the start of the course.  It’s recommended that students purchase their own Minecraft account, however if parents have concerns about play time, a temporary account can be assigned for the duration of the course.
  • Students must be able to share their screens, and have their cameras on for better collaboration and for troubleshooting and installation problems.

Language Arts Program

The Page to Screen Club is a chance for students to engage with incredible, youth-focused science fiction novels that have been adapted into major feature films!  We will examine the differences between each medium, where authorial/directorial choices diverge and why, and ultimately decide how successful each adaptation was.  Movie-lovers unite!
