5-Paragraph Essay Writing: Grades 5-6

About this course

This course teaches students how to organize writing in an effective manner that allows them to communicate clearly on paper. This style of writing is one that they’ll carry with them throughout their academic careers and into the working world regardless of their career.

What you'll learn

Throughout this course, students will learn a variety of writing skills, tips and techniques that will help them develop successful 5-paragraph essays.  Students will learn how to organize their writing, how to write with a purpose, and how to incorporate creativity and reasoning.  Students will learn and practice proper essay structure, outlining, logical backing of arguments, as well as grammar and mechanics.  By the end of the course, students will produce 5 complete essays containing all of the correct structures and elements of the 5-paragraph essay.  

During each lesson, students will be introduced to content related to developing their writing skills.  Additionally, each class, they will have opportunities to practice and receive feedback on their writing.

• There are no prerequisites to take this course
• Students should practice the techniques they learn in between sessions to gain the most from this course
