Who creates the characters in your favourite games, comics and films? Who decides what they look like and how does the visual appearance of these characters help tell the story? In this introduction to character design, campers will build their creative thinking and their drawing skills as they invent and develop a visual character design. In addition to learning about the creative process of character designers, campers will work in the art studio and develop their observational and figure drawing skills, how to use and control colour (pencil crayon and digital options) and other key visual literacy strategies.
This is a laptop optional camp. Students who bring one should already be familiar with their programs (photoshop, GIMP etc), teaching will focus on the process, not the software. All physical materials will be provided.
