The best camps are those that allow kids to engage with their interests along with peers who share them, and that’s something the CMU camps offer in abundance. The sessions attract young people who have a passion for fashion, media, and communication, allowing them to exercise that passion with others in a professional setting. For many campers it’s a means of building skills, servicing talents, and allowing them to begin imagining how they might be further developed. For others it’s a chance to experience something different, which to some extent is what the summer months are really all about.

More details about property: CMU College of Makeup Art & Design is housed within Toronto’s famed Old Fire Hall. Built in 1898, this historic building has served as a fire station, comedy venue for The Second City, and residence of Gilda’s Club. CMU purchased the building in 2011 and was excited to restore this important city site before moving in January 2012 from our prior location in northern Toronto. This move allowed CMU to develop larger, new state-of-the-art classrooms and new features including our expansive prosthetics lab. CMU is located near one of Toronto’s main intersections, Queen and Church Street. We are a short walk from the Queen subway station. Surrounding the school are dozens of restaurants, libraries and museums. Several bus routes and streetcars stop near the school.

Campers who are dropped off prior to 9:30 a.m. or picked up after 3:00 p.m. may wait in the foyer (front lobby) of the school or in the courtyard outside the front door. SUMMER CAMP AT CMU
Excerpt: Camps at CMU College voted top 6 most unique summer camps by Breakfast Television!
For many teens it can be difficult to find where they fit in with their peers, especially if they don’t share the same interests and hobbies. For teens that have a passion for beauty and/or special effects makeup, the Summer Camps at CMU College of Makeup Art & Design are the perfect environment to develop new makeup skills, pursue their passions and meet people with similar interests. CMU offers two camps, one focusing on Beauty and Fashion Makeup and the other on Special Effects Makeup. Beauty and Fashion makeup - teaches campers how to recreate stunning makeup looks seen in magazine editorials, on major fashion show runways, as well as basic everyday makeup they can use on themselves. The second camp is perfect for teens that are interested in Special Effects Makeup and want to learn how to recreate looks from movies such as Stranger Things, Hannibal, The Conjuring 2 and Suicide Squad. These SPFX campers will learn and practice creating realistic bruises, burns, scrapes, zombie makeup and more.
The camps at CMU are extremely collaborative, allowing participants plenty of opportunities to interact and discuss their passion and interest in makeup. The campers will also receive one-on-one help from their instructor to ensure that everyone in the group is getting the instruction they need to learn, practice and develop these new creative techniques and skills.
Learning alongside other campers in their teens gives participants a wonderful and relaxed environment to interact and build a base for developing new friendships. CMU Campers all have an interest in makeup, making it easy for them to share and have something in common to talk about which helps to build these new relationships. This is so beneficial for the students because they will meet new people through their shared interests, making for easy conversation topics that they feel comfortable with, all in a space that nurtures their creativity and individualism.
Discovering an artistic talent or passion is a great way to help build up self-esteem in these young teenagers. Learning and practicing new makeup artistry skills also provides campers with a sense of accomplishment and increased confidence.
Whether students walk away from camp having found a new passion, a new friendship or a newfound confidence, CMU’s makeup camps are the perfect summer activity!
