(5) Overall experience

My four year old son was very nervous and tearful as this was his first year going to camp. He had great anxiety issues about leaving me. He came home with the biggest smile on his face and could not wait to share his fantastic day with me. He chatted non stop about all the activities he participated in from painting to the many outdoor sports. This camp was a wonderful way to introduce him to the day camp experience. My son had a great summer. This camp is ideal for younger kids as the staff was always fully engaged and the camp felt safe and well supervised. I would definitely send him back to this camp. Before attending camp, my 8-year-old child was a mixture of excitement and nervousness. He was eager to try new activities that make friends but also expressed some anxiety. After camp, I noticed a significant positive change in my son. He seemed more independent, self-assured, and open to trying new things. His social skills improved and he talked a lot about the new friends he made and his favourite counsellor long after camp ended. He is so excited about going back to this camp and I am so excited to send him.

(4.5) Reason for choosing the camp

Since this was his first year at camp it was very important to me that the camp was geared for younger kids. By the programs the camp was offering on their website I felt secure that this camp was right for him. I also felt comfortable with their staff-to-child ratio and that my child would be safe and well looked after at the camp. The camp was definitely worth the money as nothing brought me more joy than to see my insecure son blossom in that camp environment. The camp delivered exactly what they promised for the amount I paid. I chose this camp originally for my other son because it had a lot of options for him to choose from and he was one of those kids that just didn’t know what he liked. It was definitely worth the investment. The cost was amazing and the days were filled with great activities that my son was really happy with. One of the best returns on my money for summer day camp.

(5) Program quality and activities

My four-year-old son loves to be busy and is game for any activity. The camp offered arts and crafts, painting, and outdoor activities. I was very impressed with the hired counsellors who were well-trained in their specialty. My eldest son loves arts and crafts, and it was hard to find a place where there were a lot of boys who also liked to create with so many different mediums. This was a valuable experience for him, seeing him grow, build confidence, and create lasting memories. This was a valuable opportunity for his development. He felt safe and happy exploring new interests.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

My four-year-old son was very insecure before he started camp but by the end of the summer, he made many friends that to this day he is still in touch with. He is now much more social and outgoing and much more confident. He learned to be better at sharing and to be more patient at waiting his turn. The councillors were very patient and attentive when he needed some extra loving attention. An incident of bullying aimed at my son was handled very firmly and delicately and settled amicably. My older son seemed much more independent, self-assured, and open to trying new things after a summer at camp. His social skills improved and he talked about new friends he made and favourite counselors he had.

(5) Skills and growth

My four-year-old son especially loved the painting and it brought out the budding artist in him. He brought home all his artwork that we proudly put up. He learned to play soccer and showed us his new skill at the game. My older son loves painting and this program encouraged self-expression in his artwork. He was able to use different materials and techniques and had so much fun as a budding artist to experience this. He had the chance to create unique masterpieces and also develop problem-solving abilities and a sense of accomplishment.

(4.5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

It’s clear that the counselors are passionate about their job. Communication with them was very easy and always accessible. Any conflict was always handled quickly and with empathy. The only complaint I have is that the first few days were a bit chaotic and hope that they have it under control for next year as I definitely plan to send my son back.

(5) Advice and tips

I highly recommend this camp for an unforgettable summer in a safe environment that will allow your child to shine and build confidence. The KidsTownCamp specialty craft program really engaged my son last summer. This camp is a creative haven where young imaginations come to life. The counselors are patient and enthusiastic instructors. This camp is a fun and rewarding experience for every young artist.
