Grades 6-8 Math and Art

Engage in a profound exploration of the symbiotic relationship between mathematical principles and artistic creation in our new “Math and Art”summer workshop!

This workshop is structured to reveal the mathematical underpinnings that have inspired and shaped artistic mastery.

Led by experts in mathematics, each session focuses on a pivotal math conceptand its application in the works of renowned artists.

In each lesson, the learning culminates in hands-on activities where students create their own art based on the concepts learned!

Course Modules:
(Each module has a hands on activity—no previous art experience required!)

• Leonardo da Vinci & the Fibonacci Sequence: Students will learn how da Vinci harnessed the Fibonacci sequence to structure his masterpieces of visual harmony and proportion.
• Salvador Dali & Hyperbolic Geometry: Students will explore the intricate geometry that Dali integrated into his artworks, using mathematical theories to distort and extend conventional perceptions of space.
• Piet Mondrian & the Golden Ratio: Students will analyze Mondrian’s use of the Golden Ratio to create balanced compositions, demonstrating the practical application of mathematical ratios in art.
• Victor Vasarely & Geometric Illusions: Students will examine how Vasarely’s use of geometric principles created optical illusions that challenge the viewer’s perspective and perception.
