Campers will participate in regular camp programs and workshop style activities that explore leadership styles, provoke reflection and discover more about group dynamics.

Campers have the opportunity to put their learnings into action by acting as a CIT at one of our day camp locations upon their return.

Prospectors is a 5 day, 4 night leadership program where campers will enjoy all of the traditional activities that John Island Camp offers while also participating in thought-provoking workshops to help hone their leadership skills.


Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Independence: Campers will learn the ability and willingness to do things on one’s own. Self-initiative, self-motivation, self-care. Decisiveness.
  • Interpersonal skills: Campers will learn the ability to understand the emotions and behaviours of others, and to respond accordingly. Ability to compromise and listen. Communication skills. Leadership.
