Weight loss camps (or health and fitness camps) address parents' concerns about young people's lack of healthy activity which can result in poor physical fitness and issues with weight. Weight loss camps focus not only on healthy activity and weight loss but can also educate children about nutrition and eating habits. This kind of camp can challenge your child to drop bad habits and take on habits that encourage more health and fitness. The advantage to these is the focus, and the fact that children will find themselves with a group of their peers who may also have similar issues with weight loss or fitness.
It can be profoundly helpful and worthwhile for any child to learn about health and fitness, in order to learn good lifelong habits. Getting young men and women aged 12 to 25 healthy and vibrant at a camp is a great way to fuel a lifetime of fitness.
Of course, any summer camp offers a lot of activities to encourage all children to increase fitness. There is little doubt that all that fresh air and activity is healthy for every child who partakes in summer camp. Any summer camp will get your child outdoors and active and renew their attention on health and fitness. But on the other hand, not all will be perfectly suited to a boy or girl with an acute weight problem.
Campers who attend weight loss camp praise them for the way they teach "how to eat right and exercise daily" and help them to gain confidence. Generally, kids know that they have a problem and it is important to address weight issues in a healthy, constructive way. Sending a child to a "weight loss camp" can introduce them to camp life and healthy habits, while having a blast at the same time.
New for 2010: In our 2010 issue of Our Kids Go to camp we once again profiled the many healthy benefits of weight loss and fitness camps, including the way they educate kids and immerese them in healthy habit formation.
